My craigslist finds!

I've been looking around on craigslist for a dining set for the new place. No luck in that department, but I did find some things that were too good to pass up.

First, a chair for my sewing room. I need to clean it a little (it had been stored in the garage), and I'll probably try to recover it at some point. I think it will be a comfy little spot to sew. Plus, I only paid $3 for it!

Second, some super cute shelves that I just couldn't resist. They were a steal at $5 each! There are 2 (the second one is being delivered today) and they're FABULOUS. Solid wood, nicely built....I'll probably paint them to match my sewing room and maybe put some patterned paper or fabric in the back.

From the side:

P.S. Sorry for the lovely garage pictures. I'm not big enough to get the stuff into the house on my own! :)

The tour!

From the outside:

Looking in from the front door:

From the door, going straight back. Entry, dining area (with the pillar) and the living room at the back.

From the entry/dining area, the kitchen is to the right:

Here's a view of the kitchen from the living room/back of the house:

It's a split floor plan, so our master bedroom is to the right:
(I like the double window. I think our bed will go there)

Then there's a pocket door that leads to the bathtub, with the vanity across from it. There's a doorway just past those that leads to the toilet with linen closet across from it. Then, there's another pocket door and our walk in closet:

This is what the vanities look like (there's a second bathroom just off of the living room, in between the two other bedrooms):

Ok...back to the left side of the house. From the entry, there's a doorway to the left with a small hallway. If you turn to the right in that hallway, there's a small bedroom which will probably be an office or a small guest bedroom:

Next to that bedroom is our laundry room (a real laundry room! Hooray!):
There's a nice table top in there and cabinets that run above where the washer and dryer will go.

Next is another bathroom (similar in style to our master bath), then at the far left of the hall is my sewing room (the other bedroom has a similar closet):

As you can see, Nermal was NOT down with exploring. She planted herself in my closet and wouldn't move. *sigh* Hopefully she warms up to things!

So, um...yeah, that's the tour! We'll hopefully have everything (or the vast majority) moved in by Saturday.

Guess what IIII have?

Jingle, jingle! :)

Things that are making me super happy right now?

Room in my walk in closet for my shoooooooooooes:

Lots of storage in my kitchen:

Aaaand I have pull-out shelves AND a lazy susan. As Jeff will tell you, I'm more than a little obsessed with lazy susans. Just look at all that storage!

It's been a busy day. I went over for the walk through at the new place and they gave me the key, so I went and picked up our stuff from where I'd been storing it at work. I ran and grabbed some lunch and then unpacked most of that stuff. The kitchen is mostly set up now and I am in. love. with. it. :D It's physically smaller than our current kitchen, but it's laid out so much better. Yay, yay, yay!

Anyway, I'm back now. Just thought I'd quickly upload some pictures. I'll post the tour tomorrow. For now I need a nap!

Creative Monday is back!

Sorry it's been so long...my camera has not been cooperating and I've been piled under boxes trying to prepare for this move.

Finally...pictures of what I've been working on. This is a little felt name book for the baby I nanny for. I also need to work on a little dollhouse for the little girl, but I've been running behind with moving and all.

Anyway, here's the book:

I'm quite in love with it so far :)

It will have a page for each letter of his name. I've also finished the "i" (insects) and am almost finished with the "l" lions and "t" turtles. I just need to get pictures of those. One more page to go! (I think it will be either ladybugs or lizards.

I also made some more felt food for our niece for Christmas. They're so much fun to do!

Much belated Christmas post

(Sorry this is so late...my camera hasn't been cooperating!)
Here the food spread from our Christmas party:

I think there were about 5 different kinds of cookies, peanut brittle, chocolate covered pretzels, chips and dip, chips and salsa...I *may* have gone a little overboard, but I'm in love with the new mixer.

I don't remember if I posted or not, but I made Kris Kringle cookies for the party and they were really good!

I also made some peanut butter/snickers cookies before we left town, but I can't seem to find the recipe. I'll keep looking!

Also, here's our tree (you know, the one that set off the house alarm...twice?):

You might also notice my Christmas craft across the window there. I made a little snowstorm for the window. Jeff thought I was nuts, but I kind of liked how it would flutter when the heat kicked on. Maybe I just have too much free time on my hands ;)

Let the countdown begin!

Sorry I haven't been around much...we've been busy busy with the holidays, plus we're moving! It's just across town, but we're still very excited. We're moving to a little duplex in the neighborhood where I nanny, so I'll be able to walk to work. Can't wait!! :D

About Me

Boise, Idaho, United States
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury; and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasion, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony. William Henry Channing
