Eggs anyone?

So...crafty week was not as productive as I'd hoped. I don't get nearly as much accomplished with Jeff out of town when I'm working all day! Oh well...I'm still plugging along.

Here's my next round of felt food: eggs and cinnamon rolls.

Heh. I like this too. It looks like some kind of weird face:

And here's everything together so far (sorry for the blurry shot. I'm too lazy to take it again):

I especially like the cinnamon rolls :)

I'm still hoping to make some toast and try to make a glass of milk again (I canNOT get it to cooperate), but we'll see...the party's on Saturday and I'd like to make little bags with the girls' names on them too.

Gimme S'More!

We went to friends' house for a bbq last night, and I opted to give the S'Mores Cupcakes a try.

I used peanut butter chips instead of chocolate chips (because that's what I happened to have on hand). That was a little weird, just because they didn't melt on top, so it had a little stronger taste than I'd imagined, but oh well...they were still yummy!

The marshmallow topping is particularly good!

In case I haven't mentioned...Nermal is VERY happy to have her daddy home.

She won't let him out of her sight. If he dares to leave the room, even if it's just for a second...she stands and cries until he comes back. *sigh*

Also, look at this cute baby kitty I found outside. I waaaant it! :)

Crafty week begins!

So, hubby is currently out of town doing some super cool computer forensics training with the secret service. Yes, he now has a lanyard with "United States Secret Service" on it and I have a feeling he'll be sleeping with it on. ;)

Anyway, since I'm alone, I'm crafting. The little one I nanny for (and her cousin, who I used to nanny for) is/are turning two (their birthdays are a week or two apart), so I've been working on gifts for them. I decided that felt play food might be fun, so here's what I've got so far. I made two of each. Pancakes with syrup and a butter pat and blueberry poptarts.

Sorry the lighting sucks on these, but I was taking them at midnight.

Aaaaand one together:

Next up: eggs and maybe milk or juice

After almost a year, I'm back at it!

(that's smocking, for those who don't know. The plain lines are called backsmocking. You have to do that to the backside of any design so that it keeps its shape.)

No, the design is not me announcing anything. We're now selling through a boutique in St. Louis, and that just happens to be a design that they like.

Here's a closeup:

I've also been working on beaded snowflakes.

I started with this:

and now I have this:

and this:

I think I've got around 100 now. I'm hoping to have 400-500 to sell this year. We'll see!

Now then...back to work. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to make felt play food for the girls' (the little one I nanny for and her cousin) birthday party, since I'm down to 2 weeks. Eek! Also, I can't hear the stupid sprinklers in my sewing room...which is good. That noise is like fingernails on a chalkboard right now!

House update

So, after all the hunting, we've decided to build. We're going to build in the neighborhood we saw a few weeks ago, but with the family I nanny for building...not the craigslist guy.

I'm super excited. We're going out tonight to look things over again and get an idea of what lots we like and then we'll narrow down house choices from there. Decisions, decisions, but it's all so very exciting! :)

Also, Jeff will be out of town next week. He was accepted in a computer forensics training program. He was one of maybe 15-20 nationwide chosen, so we're very excited about this opportunity for him!

House thoughts.

I'm late in updating...oops.

Last Sunday, we went to see the neighborhood of the house I posted about. We like the neighborhood, like the house, but I have to say that the builder made me less than comfortable. He wasn't awful. I didn't run away screaming or anything, but it concerns me when I ask questions and don't really get a straight answer.

This community has some pretty specific CC&Rs (that's the community rules, in case anyone doesn't know). One of which is that you have to have sod in the whole yard. He mentioned grass seed in the back. I asked about the CC&R requirement and he kind of brushed me off.

I was also told how they use all these high end upgrades and how much better they are than the other houses we're considering...blah blah salespitch blah. I didn't see all that big of a difference. Nicer doors, higher end carpet and rubbed bronze fixtures (which are pretty, but considering how my white gold prongs around my diamond are turning yellow...um, yeah. I don't think that would work).

So. We're sort of at square one again. However....did I mention that the family I nanny for builds houses?? Mmmmhmmm...we're discussing now. I'll keep you all posted.
